The main island of Chibu Village at the southern tip of the Oki Islands, 44 km from Shichirui Port. The village's total area is 13.70 km². Dramatic sea cliffs run west from Akahage-yama (325 m), the highest peak, and scenic spots such as the Sekiheki (Red Cliffs) are part of Daisen-Oki National Park.

Ferry Shirashima (Ferry Kuniga during dry-dock) runs Saigo 8:30 -> Hishiura dep 9:50 -> Beppu dep 10:20 -> Kurii dep 10:55 -> Sakaiminato arr 13:20 / dep 14:10 -> Kurii arr 16:35 -> Beppu arr 17:10 -> Saigo arr 18:35. The ferry from Shichirui and the Rainbow Jet high-speed boat do not call at Kurii, so change to an inter-island ferry at Beppu or Hishiura Port. Credit cards are not accepted at Kurii Port. No reservation is needed for 2nd class (other classes, cars and motorcycles require a reservation). 2nd-class fare, revised Jun 1, 2026 (including consumption tax). Car fares are revised on Nov 1, 2026.

Inter-island boat Isokaze (passengers only). From Beppu to Kurii, 7:46, 11:51, 12:40, 13:30, 14:50, 16:10 and 19:08 go direct (17-20 min), and 8:25, 10:02, 17:20, 20:07 and 21:13 go via Hishiura. The same boats also run from Hishiura to Kurii. The last sailing from Kurii, 21:46, goes via Hishiura and arrives at Beppu at 22:17. Figures are for the timetable of Aug 17 - Dec 30, 2026, including sailings that run 10 minutes later from Sep 1 to Oct 31 (marked ■). When Kurii is cancelled, a temporary Beppu-Hishiura-only timetable is used. The inter-island ferries (Isokaze and Ferry Dozen) take no reservations; first come, first served. Adult one-way fare 300 yen. Kurii Port has no ticket office; buy tickets from the ticket machine in the inter-island ferry waiting room.
