A 3.9 km-around island north of Iriomote, the smallest inhabited island in the Yaeyama Islands and the birthplace of the folk song "Hatoma-bushi". High-speed boats from Ishigaki Port take about 45–50 minutes (70–85 minutes via Uehara), run by two companies.

Wed, Ishigaki 12:30 → Uehara 14:10, Uehara 15:00 → Hatoma 15:20, Hatoma 15:30 → Ishigaki 17:10. May–Aug it leaves Ishigaki at 08:30. When the Uehara/Hatoma route is cancelled it goes to Ohara instead. Vehicles must be booked with the cargo office (0980-83-5891); a 4–5 m car costs ¥17,280 one way. The passenger fare includes the fuel surcharge.

Cargo-passenger ship "Yuimaru". Leaves Ishigaki at 08:30. The Uehara route takes about 100 minutes (about 130 minutes via Hatoma); the Ishigaki–Hatoma time, departure times from Hatoma and the passenger fare are not published on the official site. In winter, strong north winds often cancel the Uehara/Hatoma sailings, and the ship goes to Ohara instead. Vehicles are reservation-only (cargo section 0980-87-6310); a 4–5 m car costs ¥17,280 one way.
