The island of Nakanoshima in the Dozen group of the Oki Islands, which makes up Ama Town, with a population of about 2,200. Blessed with spring water selected among Japan's 100 best waters, it grows rice despite being an island. It is home to Oki Shrine, linked to the retired Emperor Go-Toba, and is known for Oki Dozen High School, which takes in students from outside the island.
