The island of Nishinoshima in the Dozen group of the Oki Islands, which makes up Nishinoshima Town, with an area of 55.96 km² and a population of 2,420 (end of September 2026). On the open-sea side, sea cliffs run for about 37 km, with the Kuniga Coast as the signature landscape. Cattle and horses are still grazed in the tradition of the old makihata rotation farming.
