The Ogasawara Maru is the only regular service; there are no other ships or flights. Departs Tokyo 11:00 and arrives at Chichijima 11:00 the next day (about 24 hours). The ship stays at Chichijima for about 3 nights, then departs 15:00 and arrives in Tokyo 15:00 the next day, so a round trip takes at least 6 days. The fare is for 2nd-class Japanese-style room, October 2026 (including a fuel surcharge of 4,970 yen, which changes monthly; 30,030 yen in November and 31,800 yen in December). Cars cannot travel with passengers; they are shipped as cargo (loaded by crane). Because 3 Tokai Kisen vessels are under a suspension of use, the sailings departing Tokyo on Oct 9, 16 and 23 and departing Chichijima on Oct 13, 20 and 27 call at Oshima in both directions, arriving at Chichijima 11:40 and Tokyo 15:40 (40 minutes late each). Tickets between Oshima and Chichijima are not sold. Schedule changes due to typhoons or rough seas are announced on Ogasawara Kaiun's top page. Book accommodation before arranging your trip to Chichijima (finding a room on arrival is very difficult, and camping or sleeping outdoors is prohibited by village ordinance). Figures are from the published timetable as of October 2026.
